As with a lot of people we chose to stay a little closer to home this year on vacation. Going down to Maryland and North Carolina gave us the "tropical" surroundings while being only a day's drive away from being home and with the kids. Avoiding the airports for now while everyone gets their act totally together was also a benefit. We love to fly and hope to return to the air soon. Our vacation starts with the usual "Hotel Heisey" stop over, where we joined up with Rick and Ann, picked up the Deville and headed out to North Carolina and Topsail (pronounced Topsul) Beach where we stayed at the

Well as you can see Topsul Beach isn't your usual vacation spot. Missing is the hordes of "beachers" and packs of wild unsupervised kids. Everything is in s-l-o-w-m-o-t-i-o-n and one must adjust to the change. This takes about 2 days and chugging a few 6 packs of brewski's before interacting with the locals. The next house to Villa Capriani is about 1/2 mile away making for loads of uncrowded beach space. Dottie's brother and sister-in-law unfortunately have to live in this desolate spot ..... hummm?!?!? |
